English and Special Needs Tutoring in Ilford

My name is Joe Robinson. I have a full DBS check and have had additional training in special educational needs. It is my aim to make learning as enjoyable for children as possible. I want them to not only learn in my session but look forward to attending. I love working with children and am very much looking forward to meeting your child.

Tutoring Experience

I am a qualified teacher. I have taught all age groups from nursery to year 6. I have a masters in Special education needs and have been a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) for 3 years.

Areas I currently support or have done in the past are:

> 1 hour tutoring sessions tailored to your child’s needs.
> 1-1 sensory based sessions for children with autism.
> An expanded curriculum for children who require further
challenge than school alone can offer.
> 4+ assessment preparation.
> 11+ assessment preparation.
> EYFS foundation skills.
> Support for children with dyslexia.

> Support for children with dyspraxia.
> Learn to Love reading and writing scheme.

Tutoring Approach

At a zoom call or face to face family meeting with parents/carer we will discuss the child’s development, the priorities for the family and any concerns around Special Educational Needs.

It is my aim to build personalised schemes of work for each child.

Tutoring sessions will take place in my learning space. In those sessions we will go through a personalised scheme of work to support with the priorities raised in the family meeting. I will also carry out baseline assessments to identify additional needs.

If additional needs are indicated I will then support the family with the next steps: filling out all appropriate referral forms, providing information about what to expect from the local authority, and the school and how to best support the child at home. I will support the family through the whole process of SEND assessments and in my sessions with the child adapt the teaching to best support their needs. I work closely with Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia, Autism, ADHD and SEMH specialists to adapt my teaching to best support a full range of additional needs.
