Joe has been swift to respond to my initial enquiry, and we set up an initial tutoring session which went well. He has taken time to see what my son's expectations and required grades are, and to talk through aspects which he might find more difficult. He is tailoring his teaching around this. Very happy so far! Update in 2021 - Joe was a highly successful tutor for my son. He was able to engage and stimulate my son's insights into the reading, and was particularly strong on showing how his knowledge could be used more effectively in his essay writing. The notes he provided were much (much!) easier to understand than the standard revision books available online - he knows his stuff! The opportunity to go through essays in detail was invaluable. The lessons were online throughout the lockdown period and beyond, and I was happy that my son had 'real' teaching throughout. Highly recommended.

My son Sidney really enjoyed his online sessions with Joe covering A Level RS. He never let us down, always on time very reliable. He went at a pace that allowed Sidney to absorb the information, recognising he has a low concentration span but also made it interesting enough to learn. Many thanks Joe.

Extremely helpful and beneficial sessions for both learning the content and improving essay technique. I always found my Skype lessons with Joe interesting and clarifying, it was thanks to him that I got the grade in RS to get into Oxford University after problems with my teacher at school.

Joe is a superb tutor. His expertise speaks for itself but his tutoring talents lie in being able to identify a student's weaknesses and maximise on their strengths. Always well-prepared, flexible in arrangements and highly professional. Joe tutored my son and between philosophy mock grade and final result there was a threefold improvement in grade. As well as all of this, he's a really nice chap!

Had it not been for Joe, I have no doubt that I would have had a lower grade than the one I ultimately achieved. Whilst I found myself having difficulty in grasping philosophical concepts in the classroom, Joe's knowledge of the subject combined with his great ability to simplify and explain complex concepts made it so that I could understand them with ease. I would go as far as saying that his teaching was the main factor in me getting a good grade. Amazing tutor!

I would highly recommend Joe as a Philosophy/RS tutor. Over the past few months he has been helping our daughter with her RS A-Level (she needed an A-grade to get into university and with Joe's help managed to get an A*). She found Joe to be extremely knowledgeable and reliable and the sessions were well prepared and pitched at exactly the right level for her. I can't recommend Joe highly enough.

Joe is a great teacher, I'd struggled to understand philosophy for a while and he definitely helped me improve my understanding and my method of answering the test questions.

Joe is an outstanding teacher. For the first time in months, after his first hour of tuition with Joe, my son was engaged again with this A-Level subject. After a handful of lessons, Joe has put my son back on track to gaining his predicted grade and most importantly of all has given him back the confidence he lacked. A really polite person, but just wasn't working out. He is really intelligent in the subject, but over intelligent to the point whereby I was left every lesson having no clue what was going on.

When looking for a tutor for my son I found the information Joe provided in his profile to be informative and succinct and asking him to tutor my son (AS/A2 level) has been the right decision. Joe has made the subject of Philosophy interesting, relevant and engaging and receiving the tutoring online has not presented any issues; I would recommend it.
Joe is professional, very approachable and friendly, provides well prepared lessons and is a good communicator who explains his subject clearly. In addition Joe responds quickly to email and is flexible in his working hours. My son and I would highly recommend Joe as a tutor.
