Hi! I’m Johanna.
I am native French speaker with a passion for learning and education. I believe our brains start getting old when we stop learning, and I am keen to keep mine young! Learning opportunities are everywhere. Exams are simply a way to measure our application of key skills. This is where I’m keen to help.
I have been a teacher of MFL (French mainly, and a bit of Spanish) for over 15 years, and head of MFL departments for almost as long. I had to give up this role after becoming an Assistant Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form.
I have taught psychology at GCSE and A level. Psychology is a highly interesting subject: how our brain works, human interactions and our complexities, are all fascinating topics. This subject has allowed me to develop my teaching methods through essay writing, as opposed to the interactive element of MFL.
I am passionate about developing my students’ skills, regardless of their starting point. For me, learning is a journey that should be enjoyed: we all learn better when we are interested. Quite often, teachers in classrooms have to overlook students’ enjoyment for the benefit of exam skills. I combine both.
Through extensive research, training and observation, I have developed a set of tried and tested methods to allow my students to develop their understanding of the subject while embracing their learning. Exam boards give us tools and benchmarks that students have to meet: I have all the necessary tools to ensure my students tick these boxes and get the grades they deserve.
