I am a native French speaker and have had Qualified Teacher Status for 21 years. I teach French and Spanish to A level.
I have been Head of MFL for many years and lead a very successful team of teachers. We constantly share good practice, and this is an excellent way for me to constantly improve as a practitioner and to be aware of new resources.
In my current school, every year we have about 20 to 30 students studying MFL at A level, 120 to 140 students at GCSE with dual linguists at GCSE and A level. This shows that my views and approaches to teaching MFL have engaged students, making them want to learn languages and carry on at further level.
In the academic year of 2022 to 2023, I had one of my A level French student who has been accepted to study French at Oxford University.
In the academic year of 2021 to 2022 I had:
• One of my A level French student who has been accepted to study French and Spanish at Oxford University.
• One of my A level French students who has been accepted to study French and Economics at La Sorbonne University. She is now involved with the organisation of the Olympic Games in Paris
Another role I have undertaken is that of an examiner. Being an examiner has helped me understand the needs and requirements of the exam boards.
I regularly organise subject specific CPD training for my teachers, which keeps us abreast of the latest developments in the teaching of MFL. I recently incorporated the Conti method of teaching in the KS3 curriculum of our Spanish and French students which is having a huge impact on the progress of the students.
Teaching is my profession but more than that it is my passion. I am French and proud of the culture I grew up in. Beyond the examinations, I want the students to enjoy their learning and this will naturally engage them in the subject and have a positive impact on their progress.
I strongly believe in a personalized approach to learning so don’t hesitate to contact me to find out the best methods for your needs.
I have been a MFL teacher for 22 years and head of a very successful MFL for 7 years.
I also worked as an external examiner for many years.
I have taught A level and GCSE for 22 years achieving excellent results all through the years.
I have experience in preparing students for the Oxford MFL interview process and my students are regularly successfully accepted to go to prestigious university such as Oxford, Cambridge and La Sorbonne.
I personalize my teaching according to the learning style of the student.
I constantly keep up-to-date with MFL pedagogical approaches to teaching and have, for example, recently included the Conti approach in the MFL KS3 curriculum of the school I work at.
