I gained my History and Politics PGCE in 1994, and have always loved both subjects. I enjoy spending time with my family, current affairs, cinema, travel, and football.
I am a highly experienced History and Politics teacher who has taught pupils at GCSE and A level in Kent High Schools and Grammar Schools for 25 years. In addition, I am also an examiner for Edexcel for GCSE History and A Level Politics. I have worked at Cornwallis Academy in Maidstone for 20 years, and was formerly at Simon Langton Girls Grammar School in Canterbury.
My specialist areas for A Level History are the Cold War, Russia and Germany (20th century) and the US Civil War / 20th century American Dream, and Pitt to Peel (19th century).
For A Level Politics, I teach the Edexcel syllabus, and for Unit 3, can teach either the Global Politics option OR the USA / GB comparative option
I believe that History and Politics is about students questioning the material / content, providing logical, balanced arguments, and reaching clearly thought out conclusions, whether at GCSE or A level. I like students to express themselves and their opinions, whilst tying their arguments and points into clear responses. History and Politics is about problem solving, prioritisation, applying knowledge, and understanding both how the world works, and how the past affects the present.
