A qualified teacher with 14 years of experience of teaching Mathematics in some of England's top Independent schools, including my current employment. I have a proven track record of both teaching and tutoring from National Curriculum Year 7-13. As well as mathematics I have experience inside boarding houses as an Assistant Housemaster and spend most of the rest of my time out coaching Football, Hockey and Cricket or out playing Golf.

Tutoring Experience

I have a wide range of experience in ability, subject (science based) and level (KS2 through to A Level FM / Oxbridge entry), though I now only tend to tutor NC Y7-13. I am happy to take on more intense, shorter term tutoring, but most of my tuition is longer term leading up to assessment. In recent years I have tutored for CE 13+, GCSE, GCSE FM, Additional Mathematics FSMQ, A Level Mathematics and A Level Further Mathematics. I have experience as an Examiner for AQA and Edexcel, and have also taught OCR and MEI (OCR B).

Tutoring Approach

Everything is tailored to the individual student and their needs. For exam preparation I would look at both gaps in knowledge and the examination technique needed to 'perform on the day'. In longer term situations then building confidence and fluency within the subject is core to what I do. Resources and approaches from my teaching over the years transfers across to a tutoring situation and forming a positive relationship with clients is something I pride myself upon. As a full time teacher I appreciate the ups and downs of teenage life, and the need to be flexible at times both with timings and approach!
