I’m a recent graduate of a Master's engineering degree in Ship Science at the University of Southampton, where I received numerous accolades for achievement in addition to my First-Class grade. Having held tuition lectures during the university exam seasons for friends and course-mates, I have ample experience teaching Maths and Physics, especially to A-Level standard.
I have previously worked in a UK secondary school as a curriculum consultant, where I developed teaching materials and presentations for Maths lessons – so I have a great understanding of the exam syllabus and its requirements.
I believe that Maths and Physics can both be challenging subjects, but a little practice and intuition goes a long way! I’ll help identify weak spots in your child’s knowledge and strengthen them with worked examples and explanation at their pace.
I have experience working in a school as a curriculum consultant, where I developed Maths lessons for GCSE to A-Level students. This gives me excellent familiarity with the exam syllabus, as well as practical experience teaching Maths to secondary-school pupils.
I know first-hand how difficult Maths and Physics can be, especially at school level! With these subjects, though, I find that a little bit of intuition or insight can go a long way, and so I use a varied approach. I'll help your child first understand the subject material using simpler worked examples and explanation at their own pace, and then work on weaker areas that we identify during the session. I like to get children to explain their thought processes to me, whether or not they've got the question correct, to better understand how they're processing the subject material. Finally, I can guide them towards a different method, if need be, and test their learning using harder exercises.
