Experience History & Politics teacher who loves to impart the past histories of humankind, and the ever changing relationships between different branches of political power in the US and the UK. Gained a Doctorate in History at the UEA looking at the evolving landscape and rural economy of England in the Early-Modern period.
Outside of lessons I'm a father of two, a keen birdwatcher and I also regularly go to see Ipswich Town Football Club.
I have taught across the state and selective sector in East Anglia for the past two decades. I have taught 11 to 18 years olds in High Schools and Sixth Form Centres. I have taught History and Politics regularly through this time at both GCSE and A Level for both AQA and Edexcel boards. My specialisms include 20th Century Russia and America, the UK since 1945, the History of Medicine, the settling of the American Plains, early modern English economic and social history, including the reigns of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. In Politics I have taught the AQA and Edexcel A Level specification, which both focus on UK and USA politics. I was Head of Department for History and Politics at a Sixth Form Centre in Ipswich for 7 years.
In the past 15 years I have also gained experience as an examiner, both at GCSE and A Level for History. I have also published various articles in academic articles such as Rural History and the Agricultural History Review.
I always strive to make History and Politics interesting to the study, but without ever losing sight of what the exam board is asking in every question that we model. Past papers and exam reports are vital in this respect and I always encourage the student both in Politics but also History to gather current up-to-date examples and case studies to their written responses.
