When I initially went on to First Tutors to find a Higher Maths tutor, I really didn't know where to start but Joseph had strong credentials so I thought I'd try him for my daughter and it proved to be a very good choice. He was a fantastic help, is obviously excellent with maths and is good at teaching others. You are genuinely in a safe pair of hands by selecting Joseph. I highly recommend to others. The best quote was from my daughter who said, in as many words, "Joseph helped me one thousand percent"… that says it all. She was the pupil, not me. This site is 'First Tutors'… well, this Tutor is First Class.

Joseph has been tutoring my daughter for higher Maths and has had 5 lessons so far. She got a B in her 4th year exam but needs an A in higher. She is really enjoying the way Joseph teaches. She finds his explanations really easy to understand and he is fully engaging with her to help her with some topics she was struggling with at school. Before Joseph she was scoring 50%. In this short time she has scored 79%. Thank you Joseph look forward to your continued help.

I would highly recommend Joseph as a tutor for maths. Having not done maths for over 15 years, Joseph was great at explaining things to me and was supportive at all times. Prior to hiring Joseph as a tutor I had no knowledge of basic maths and I now have an understanding of percentages, fractions and many other things that I struggled with.

Without the support of Joseph, I would not have managed to complete my access to maths level 5 course. Joseph was patient with me and worked with me weekly to ensure that I was confident when undertaking my assessments.

Joseph was very quick to reply to my initial request for his availability and once tutoring had commenced shortly afterwards, was always prompt to respond to any queries. He has a sound knowledge of the secondary maths curriculum and kept up to speed with SQA modifications approaching exam time. He was able to accommodate our preferred weekly slot and was always reliable and punctual for every session.

Joseph is friendly and reliable, and took the time to listen to my concerns about the gaps and issues in my 14 year old son’s maths and learning in general. He explains maths in a straightforward, and down to earth manner. My son got on well with Joseph and found his explanations easy to understand. My son also does physics and Joseph was happy to split lesson into maths and physics, if needed. I would definitely recommend Joseph. He is also good fun.

Following a telephone conversation with Joseph, I decided not to move ahead with tutoring and instead will be going with another tutor. I can’t comment at all on his teaching abilities, however it’s clear that he has many satisfied pupils.

Joseph was very reliable and professional. He worked well with my 2 daughters to revise over summer, preparing them for a successful S3. They found him easy to understand and friendly and they both enjoyed their lessons.

Dealing with the Nat5 course when a child hasn’t been taught very well on top of Covid was our worst nightmare as parents. Our daughter was truly lost in maths with no confidence, failing every test along with the other kids when they resumed back to school shortly after covid we had enough. I contacted Joesph after endless searching online for a math tutor. Joesph has gave her so much confidence while teaching her very well most aspects of the course, understanding what he had to do in such a short space of time while remaining realistic. He was very reliable always on time for lessons, professional, genuine. He was also happy to answer any questions we had and he would be flexible if need be.

We can’t thank you enough for working very hard with Kacey. You really have made her enjoy maths again. We are so grateful. Hopefully Kacey will get a well deserved good result.

Couldn't ask for anyone better. style of tutoring was good, a good balance of the tutor teaching me and me doing questions to ensure i knew what i was doing, very friendly guy!

Joseph has been very good in carrying out his tutorial duties to my daughter preparing her for the SQA Physics exam. I’m a psychology graduate completing a master’s degree. I am 35. I recently applied for teacher training, admission to which was subject to my passing entrance tests in English and Maths and an interview. Unfortunately, I failed the Maths component of the entrance test, but was granted a re-sit. On hearing this, I sought a tutor and worked with Joseph for approximately 5 weeks covering large components of the National 5 curriculum, while working on my M.A. Having been maths-phobic during and since school, it was a surprise to me that I enjoyed my lessons with Joseph, who was a patient, clear and organised tutor. I passed the maths re-sit and secured a place on the course thanks to Joseph.

Joesph is a excellent teacher .MY daughter Caitlin was getting 55% in her maths test now she is getting 90% I am please we have found someone that want to help thanks again Joesph for all your help.

Joseoh is a very competent tutor. He gives 100 percent and makes learning interesting and easy to follow for my 13 year old… He is commutted to his pupils development and i woukd have no hesitation recommendeding him.
