My name is Joy and I am a science teacher who loves science! I am passionate about my subject and encouraging students to see the importance of science in their everyday lives, as well as in school. I provide online tuition for years 7-11 for KS3 science and GCSE chemistry (focusing on the AQA syllabus).

Tutoring Experience

My extensive teaching experience spans 17 years, in both UK and international schools. These different educational environments have provided me with a wealth of teaching tools, allowing me to effectively support students to achieve their science goals. I pride myself in creating supportive learning environments for students and curiosity is always encouraged! I have taught all the major GCSE exam boards (OCR, Edexcel and AQA) and most recently, Cambridge IGCSE. I have also worked as a GCSE examiner for 18 years, which has given me valuable knowledge and experience to help support students maximise their marks in exams!

Tutoring Approach

I provide interactive, engaging and informative online group sessions, to support your child's progression in science. The groups are small in size, to allow for plenty of individual support and feedback from me. Students benefit from effective peer support, as well as a slightly less pressurised environment than 1-1 tutoring, so it can really help those students who need a confidence boost!
My year 7 & 8 science group sessions follow a timetable based on the UK National Curriculum. This timetable can be adjusted depending on the students in the group.
Year 9 sessions aim to provide them with an excellent foundation for their science GCSE (AQA syllabus). We follow a session timetable of biology, chemistry and physics, to help best prepare them for their future exams.
Year 10 & 11 group sessions focus on chemistry GCSE (Combined and Triple pathways). Exam technique and skills are a regular feature of these sessions, and are ideal if students are needing extra support with the chemistry side of the course.

All my group sessions are priced at £35 per 80 minute session (payable in 1 month blocks). This includes high quality resources; student workbooks, exam practice booklets and access to all learning materials to download at home.

I offer 1-1 top-up 'booster' sessions in the school holidays (£60/hour), which are only available to my group session students!
