My name is Jozef Mastilak. I teach math to primary students, including 11 + prep. I am 32 old Math and Geography teacher from Slovakia. I have been living in UK since 2009. I am married and I have one child. In my carrier I worked in primary school in London.I started as a Teacher assistant for a Special needs in one of the east London school. At the moment I am working as a Math teacher for a private school in central London. I am teaching Math, History, Geography and PE in different age groups from reception to Year 5. My main role is a Math leader in our school. We are very small school so we have opportunity to teach our children in a small groups. We are very keen to develop skills and knowledge for every child. That give me chance to develop suitable strategy for each child.
I finished my University in 2009 in Slovakia. Since I started my carries in UK I worked as a Teacher assistant for Special Needs and as a Math teacher. I have experience from KS1 and KS2 and I have been working as a Math teacher at Dania school in London from September 2014. I have a strong experience with creating individually math plan for each child as we have 23 children in whole school. I am very creative math teacher using many Montessori strategies in my teaching. I am trying to teach my children using math in their daily life, e.g. difference in temperatures, geometry - properties of shapes, position and direction, measurement and statistics.
Before I create any math strategy I try to understand every child needs, as every child has a different way in thinking, knowledge. Once I know the way how child is thinking then is much easier to create strategy. Everything is about a proper observation and creating suitable plan depends of child requirements. I do use formative or base assessment in the beginning as a one of the way to know level of children skills. In my school I am trying to be a friend with my children, of course they are some boundaries which we all respect. I think as far children are happy in their life then there are able to learn everything what they need for life.
