Maths and Physics Teacher in Solihull

I am originally from Córdoba, Argentina, where I studied physics from 1986 to 1992. I went on to complete a PhD in solid-state physics at the University of São Paulo between 1993 and 1996. Following that, I undertook four postdoctoral research positions—two in the United States, one in Brazil, and one in the United Kingdom. In 2005, I was appointed to a permanent academic position at Aston University, where I remained until the closure of the Mathematics Department in December 2024.

Throughout my career, I have taught a wide range of subjects. In Argentina and Brazil, I lectured on various topics in physics, while at Aston I taught mathematics, including Linear Algebra, Calculus, Ordinary Differential Equations, Numerical Analysis, Real and Complex Analysis, Stochastic Processes, Neural Networks, and Machine Learning, among others. I have taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, to groups both large and small. Additionally, I have supervised one PhD thesis and numerous MSc dissertations.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught mathematics for 19 years at Aston University (from 2005 to 2024).

Tutoring Approach

For practical problems or exercises, I encourage and guide learners to discover solutions on their own. Our minds operate through association, and when an answer is presented outright, it can create the illusion that the problem was simple—merely because the question and answer align. In reality, this shortcut deprives learners of a valuable opportunity: the cognitive effort required to move from question to solution is what truly builds knowledge and critical thinking. I apply a similar approach to theoretical questions, fostering deep understanding through active engagement rather than passive reception.
