I'm a twenty-five year old native English speaker from London and graduate of the prestigious University of Nottingham. Having studied English with Creative Writing obtaining, I have always been extremely passionate about English throughout my life. Obtaining full marks on my English Literature A-level, it is a subject that I have always flourished in. I'm a very creative person and love writing both essays and fiction. I have a keen interest in history, geography, and the humanities in general, throughout school attending lectures and events to broaden my knowledge of these subjects. I'm a very reliable, confident and attentive person, which I think is really helpful when it comes to being a good tutor. I love meeting new people and challenging them and myself with lessons, so tutoring has always been the ideal job for me. I'm very bubbly and fun, and bring a high level of energy into my lessons. Aside from tutoring, I'm a professional singer and aspiring actress, which I think has shaped me into a confident and outgoing person.
I have seven years experience tutoring English Literature & Language GCSE, and can teach any of the major exam boards and set texts. I'm also highly experienced tutoring for the English common entrance exams for all the top UK private schools. Last year, on another platform, all of my GCSE students went up by 2-3 grades on average, and one of my students went from a grade 4 to a grade 9 after only a year of tuition, so I'm confident I can help any student improve their grade.
I have lots of experience tutoring for the 11+ and 13+ common entrance exams, and have so far an excellent success rate with all my students getting in to their target schools, including top UK private schools such as Westminster School and City of London. I also have extensive experience tutoring adult foreign language learners, ranging from beginners to those who want to refine and develop their proficiency in English. Also, as I specialised in creative writing at university, I can offer creative writing lessons to both children and adults, focused around short story writing & poetry. Creative writing can be great for children to develop a passion for English whilst improving their writing skills and imagination. I can even help adults working on a short story collection or novel with editing sessions and brainstorming.
Overall, I feel I can offer a very wide range of skills as a teacher when it comes to tutoring English in all aspects. In terms of my teaching style, I fully adapt my online lessons to each individual student. We would make a plan in our first session for how to proceed and what to focus on. With GCSE or school aged children, we would go through the different modules together, practice analysis and writing whilst refining any necessary skills according to the curriculum, whilst also going through past papers together for exam practice. With language learners, depending on the needs of the student I can offer conversation classes whereby we have discussions and I correct any speech errors, or I can provide structured grammar lessons or lessons on general writing skills.
