I am a qualified and experienced primary teacher across all the age ranges in both Key Stage One and Two; therefore, highly knowledgeable with the primary curriculum and Eleven Plus exams. Through gaining post-graduate qualifications and relevant leadership experience in teaching maths and provision for the able and gifted, in addition to my English specialism, this depth of knowledge is invaluable to my role of Primary Tutor. From this wealth of experience and as a parent myself, I also have a sound understanding of the 'whole child'. All tuition is online using Zoom, which means that I can provide tuition to anywhere in the world.
My teaching experience of twenty-seven years included various leadership roles for English, maths and the provision for the able and gifted pupil. I have an excellent track record of pupils achieving their targets, whilst maintaining a consistent reputation for very good teaching. This first-rate track record has continued with individual and group tuition through tutoring maths and English at both Key Stage One/Two and Eleven Plus entrance exam preparation over the last few years. My experience has also included being an English Adviser for an education resources company, which required leadership on a Grammar Scheme Project and writing reading resources.
All bespoke lessons remain in line with the National Curriculum and the varying Eleven Plus entrance exam requirements when applicable. My teaching method is to use interactive strategies from a wide range of resources, which are selected according to the child's needs and used at their required pace. Where possible, I tailor lessons to children's interests and learning styles, which are easily picked up when tutoring. Being part of those 'light bulb' moments, when learning just 'clicks,' is very rewarding and I enjoy seeing children progress and their enthusiasm/confidence grow. I love to tutor because children learn that they can do anything they put their mind to. The difference between tutoring and teaching a class of children in school, is that misconceptions can be addressed at the point of learning and plug any gaps that may arise and then move onto the next steps of learning.
I offer personalised, reliable, high-quality tuition.
