As a fully qualified teacher, I spent 23 years in schools as a teacher, maths lead and senior leader. Over the last 3 years, I have provided private tuition to students from primary up to GCSE.
I currently have limited availability for online maths tuition for KS3 & KS4 students.
I particularly enjoy working with students who are less confident in maths (foundation level) who are trying to secure a Grade 4 at GCSE, which is the required grade to avoid re-sits.
After qualifying as a teacher in 1999 from the University of Derby, I spent 23 years working as a teacher and maths lead, followed by a further 3 years as a private tutor.
I have vast experience of supporting learners of all ages and levels to make progress, including those with additional needs. I have worked successfully with many students who experience difficulties associated with neurodiverse conditions, including dyslexia and dyscalculia.
I have up-to-date knowledge of the current curriculum, expectations, exam procedures and requirements.
I am skilled at assessing pupils and identifying their gaps in learning. This serves to establish starting points for their individualised learning program, helping them to overcome barriers and make rapid progress.
I use a variety of teaching methods and strategies to support students to fully engage with the learning and to build their confidence in maths. Students respond well to my kind, supportive manner and quickly realise, with the right support, that they can overcome many of their difficulties.
