I am a DELTA qualified teacher of English with a Master's degree in Educational Technology and TESOL. I am an instructor at Queen Mary, University of London, where I teach academic writing, reading and speaking to Foundation, Undergraduate, Postgraduate and PhD students from science and humanities backgrounds. I am also an experienced private tutor.
I have over 25 years' experience in teaching English as a foreign language, academic English, business English and preparation for the IELTS, FCE and CAE exams.
I have worked as a teacher and academic manager with the British Council in Europe, South America, East Asia and the Middle East. My work has taken me to France and Italy; Ecuador and Venezuela; Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan; Mauritius, Syria and the U.A.E, and more recently to Sri Lanka.
I follow the communicative approach to language learning. I think the best way to learn a language is through practice and I encourage my students to use the language as much as possible. I also believe learning a language should be enjoyable. I encourage my students to be independent learners and I give them self-study resources which they can use outside of the class.
