I am a retired well qualified English teacher with a degree plus a post graduate professional certificate in children with literacy difficulties from Roehampton University. I have successfully taught across all ages,especially GCSE. I am flexible about travel or zoom online tutoring. I enjoy teaching one to one and aim to make it fun as well as addressing specific areas of need.I have an in depth knowledge of GCSE texts.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching for 17 years in schools and have been teaching privately as well. I am qualified in English,Drama and Special Needs as well as History I have taught in a variety of schools and enjoy using technology to help students learn.I have a lot of text knowledge and encourage students to read widely which helps students to gain confidence in reading. I have also had experience with AQA as an examiner in English Language and Literature at GCSE level for five years. I was awarded an honorary degree in 2019 by my former college- University of York St John.

Tutoring Approach

I have a great sense of humour and am very personable and students want to learn in my lessons.One parent has already booked me for her younger son as the older one was gaining a lot from the sessions. I am empathetic and understanding. Most of my students have exceeded expectations and had excellent grades.
