I am an experienced GCSE English Language and Literature tutor. I am also a mother of two boys, one 20 and the other 14.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught English Language Functional Skills and GCSE at Carshalton College and also helped many students to pass English Language and English Literature GCSE. As one of my children has special needs I am happy to work with learners with special needs. My results speak for themselves. All my students have achieved at least a grade above their predicted grade and many have done far better.

Tutoring Approach

I am happy to tutor either online or in person. I always speak to students in the first instance to build rapport, assess their confidence and ability, and ensure that we will be able to work well together. The next step is a formal test to assess their current level and then to work on areas of weakness and build on strengths. Confidence and exam technique is so important. Just understanding how to answer the questions if often enough to achieve a pass. Homework to reinforce learning is also really important.
