I am a UK qualified Biology teacher, since graduating from a Russell Group University in 2004, I have continued to develop my teaching and tutoring experience. Having a passion for helping people and an interest in mental health, I am also professionally qualified in Counselling and I find these skills help me to fully empathise and support my students.
I am also mum to two secondary-age children who attend school in the UK.
Having a love of learning, I am studying Turkish as a hobby and to challenge myself in a different field - becoming the learner again helps me to appreciate the perspective of my students!
As a currently practicing teacher I maintain up to date CPD, including Safeguarding training, and therefore I am on the DBS update service.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught in schools and colleges in the UK for 20 years. I am currently practicing in an Outstanding sixth form college so I currently specialise in delivery of A level Biology. I work 4 days per week, so I also have some time to dedicate to tutoring.
I have tutored 1-1 and small groups, working face-to-face and online; currently I offer tutoring online only.
Previously I have taught Science at Key Stage 3 and GCSE, although I have always gained the most professional reward with working with older teens at A level standard, enabling them to bridge the gap between child and adult study, and I enjoying the breadth and depth of study they experience across the fascinating range of the biological sciences.

Tutoring Approach

I offer sessions online, usually focusing on exam technique, as this is where most students request support. Where required we revisit the subject content, working at the student's pace.
I aim to be approachable and personable, while maintaining professionality. I work patiently with students, encouraging them to ask for help or repetition as required. It is important for me that me students understand that our sessions are carried out completely to their needs and that we can adapt as required at their request.
