My name is Kate, hold an undergraduate, masters, and a doctorate in psychology. I am passionate about supporting people to realise their academic potential. Given my own background and academic achievements, I understand the stressors associated with studies at university level and the time constraints you are under to produce high-quality work.
I have also published several academic papers including as a first author and I have a strong interest in producing high quality research. I am currently writing a paper based on my doctoral thesis for an academic journal.
I previously worked as a researcher within the NHS and researched various mental health presentations and treatments, therefore, I have first-hand experience of some of the methodological and ethical issues that arise in research and applications of psychology to practice.
I also have two further relevant certificates from UCL Institute of Child Health: ANOVA and general linear models using SPSS Course and Introduction to Dealing with Missing Data.
I have tutored at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. I previously offered services through First Tutors prior to undertaking my Doctoral Studies in Clinical Psychology.
Within my work in the NHS, I devised a course on research methods and statistics for professionals to support their application of research methods in practice. While I have in depth understanding of these approaches, I do not have access to current data analyses programmes but can advise on both quantitative and qualitative approaches. I have also presented my work at international conferences and understand how academic writing styles can be adapted depending on our audiences.
Throughout my training and education, I have gained a breadth of knowledge on a range of topics within Psychology including: research methods, ethical issues, applied psychology, essay writing and structure, critical thinking, and reviews of the literature and lecture content. In all of this, I have also developed skills in ensuring academic work adheres to APA (7th edition) formatting guidelines.
I enjoy supporting students with the following: essay planning and structure, research methods and dissertations, and supporting people to understand content of their lectures/modules. I can also review essays and other pieces of work. Drawing upon an in-depth understanding of APA guidelines, I ensure that work is checked for issues relating to academic style, content, flow, and the structure of arguments. I will provide comments on how you may improve your work, for example, this may include highlighting omissions, errors in citation, and providing suggestions for where the strength of your argument can be improved and linked back to your question.
For reviewing services (which can be done without arranging lessons), I charge £45 per hour and typically cover 1,000 words per hour. Since work is completed exclusively online, I provide my bank details, allowing for transfers to be made via online banking. If agreed in advance, I can return work in 48-72 hours (depending on length of work). I will start work or preparation for sessions if a date and time has been agreed, in advance.
Policy:
- Payments are due 24 hours before lessons. If payment is not made the will not go ahead.
- Reviewed work will not be returned to you if payment has not been received.
- I have a cancellation policy; you will be charged for lesson price if this is not cancelled 24 hours beforehand.
While I can offer reviews and feedback on essays and theses, I will refuse requests to write these pieces of work on your behalf. I hope that in meeting for tutoring and discussing helpful tips for writing and structuring arguments that you would feel confident in your own abilities and feel able to tackle your academic assignments.
Please note that I offer only tutoring and this is separate to my work as a Psychologist; my understanding of therapeutic approaches would only be relevant if you were to have assignments which may ask you to review or critique these as part of your studies and assignments.
