I’m a Chartered Psychologist, Postdoctoral Researcher, qualified teacher and dedicated tutor with a passion for helping learners grow in confidence and achieve their goals. I currently work part-time as a Research Tutor on the Clinical Psychology Doctorate at the University of Hull, where I support students in developing their research and academic skills. I also conduct professional research projects in mental health, equality, diversity, and inclusion, alongside consulting in organisational psychology to address workplace challenges.
Whether you're looking for support for your child to develop their general educational confidence, for primary-school level English or Maths lessons, GCSE or A-Level Psychology support, or guidance to improve the marks on your assignments for an undergraduate or postgraduate psychology programme, I can help.
My expertise in psychology, development and mental health informs my approach to learning. I understand the importance of individual learning styles, personality, cognition, neurodiversity, and emotional well-being in education. I tailor my teaching methods to suit each student's unique needs, whether they are children, teenagers, or adults, and I offer both online and face-to-face sessions.
My tutoring is driven by a deep commitment to meaningful work. I find immense joy in seeing my students develop confidence, master new skills, and unlock their potential.
Beyond psychology and teaching, I have a rich and varied background. I’m an experienced business owner, and a former professional musician. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor adventures—whether hiking, mountaineering, or stand-up paddleboarding—with my husband and our border collie. I’m also a keen food and nature photographer and an animal lover, sharing my home with two cats and two rabbits, as well as our dog.
I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring learners of all ages, from young children to adults. As a qualified primary teacher, I taught across the curriculum for three years before moving into psychology and higher education, where I now tutor undergraduate and postgraduate students in psychology, research methods, academic writing, and study skills.
My current role as a Research Tutor on the Clinical Psychology Doctorate at the University of Hull involves teaching, mentoring, and academic supervision of doctoral research. I have also trained in higher education instruction, coaching, and the delivery of adult education through seminars and workshops.
My priority as a tutor is to create a supportive, engaging, and confidence-building learning experience. I don’t just teach—I coach and mentor my students to help them develop self-efficacy, independent thinking, and practical skills they can apply across subjects and in life.
Drawing on my psychological expertise, I take a holistic approach to learning, helping students:
- Reflect on their learning experiences and emotions
- Overcome barriers and fears
- Identify their strengths and areas for growth
- Develop a growth mindset and set achievable goals
- Build confidence in their academic abilities
- Achieve better results
I believe the best learning happens through thinking, doing, and reflecting, so I use an experiential approach that ensures knowledge sticks long after the session ends.
Every student is unique, so I take a tutee-led approach, working closely with you (or your child) to create a learning plan that is enjoyable, rewarding, and tailored to individual needs. My goal is to make learning both effective and empowering.
