I am a very passionate secondary teacher of Modern Foreign Languages and native English speaker with a very strong command of the French language. I have lived in French-speaking countries for a total of 3 years, speak fluently, and completed a degree in French and Philosophy, for which I gained a distinction in spoken French.
I currently teach French up to GCSE and Spanish at KS3 in a boys Secondary school, which I love. I also have experience of teaching English as a Foreign Language at primary level and in tutoring adults abroad. I have always felt inclined to find work with young people and consider teaching to be my true vocation.
In my everyday teaching , I encounter a range of students with different abilities, attitudes and learning styles, I have developed a deep understanding of how misconceptions and frustrations can occur for language learners who are grasping how to write, speak and understand a foreign language. My job requires me to simplify grammatical concepts, break down and build language coherently and teach successful memory techniques to groups and individuals. I work with a very wide-range of students with different levels of ability and I am wholeheartedly committed to to the ethos that everyone can be a successful language learner. Of course, I have solid knowledge of exam board criteria for GCSE French but would be well suited to working with children/young people in KS3, 4 and 5, as well as adults at beginner or intermediate level.
