Tutoring Experience

I am now in my fifth year of teaching and have had experience in a range of different settings, each with a very different catchment of students. I have taught Maths, Computing, Physics and Chemistry to a range of students from top sets sitting triple science to bottom set with students sitting entry level certificates. I am extremely fаmiliаr with cоmmоn student misconceptions аnd hоw tо оvercоme them.
I have worked in a coaching centre which enables me to understand exactly what is expected from students in terms of structuring answers and the inclusion of key words/phrases.
I form good working relationships with students that are mutually respectful and conducive to a great working environment.
I have a proven track record to help students achieve success in their science GCSEs.

Tutoring Approach

I believe in teaching the subject from the basic level and built up on that. If the base is strong then it will be easier to learn the advance level of the subject. My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. My approach varies depending on the student’s needs and learning style. I use questions and examples to check understanding continually. I don’t lecture to students or ask them to memorise things.
