Hello, I'm glad you found me! I have been a passionate educator since leaving university, having worked with children of a range of ages from 1-14 for several years in daycares and After School programmes, before finally going back to school to earn my PGCE in order to step up my professional qualifications and take on the more challenging role of being a secondary English teacher. I've especially loved the opportunity of pursuing this career in the UK, a country I have always admired from afar and whose authors I have adored since childhood. I can't wait to meet you and your child!
Since moving to London 3 years ago, I have trained and taught in three excellent schools in the city - Highgate Wood, Southgate, and Park View. During this time I have practiced engaging techniques to get KS3 students excited about the subject and to equip them with the skills they'll need in the future, accelerated my familiarity and competence in preparing Year 10 and 11 students for the English Literature and Language GCSE exams, and thrived in my role as form tutor and mentor for some amazing Year 7s. I have enjoyed working with students from a variety of backgrounds and with a range of different abilities and learning challenges - one of my most important responsibilities as a classroom teacher has been to get to know each student individually and differentiate lessons and resources so that everyone progresses consistently, but at their own pace. My aim is to continue developing my skills through teaching and tutoring, to find the very best ways to spark your child's interest in English and ensure they progress in this vital and life-enriching subject.
My approach isn't complicated - Where is your child currently, and where do they want to be? What skills do they need to improve? What strategies work best for them?
The great thing about hiring a tutor is that we can create a bespoke plan just for them, by having an initial conversation about their current proficiency in the subject and deciding how effectively to help them progress, and then by having check-ins later on to find out what is/isn't working and to celebrate achievements. Let's get started!
