Hello, I'm Kexin, people call me Kesh! I am a teacher living in South West London. I graduated from King's College London with a Bachelors degree in English Literature and a Masters degrees in Anthropology from UCL. I have over 6 years of experience in teaching children aged 4-15 Chinese Mandarin. I am a writer and I enjoy many hobbies such as jogging, doing yoga and going to the theatre. Currently teaching remotely. Feel free to drop me a message if you're interested!
Teaching 1-2-1 children aged 4-15 Chinese Mandarin, from Beginner to Intermediate level. Also have taught in a primary school in North London in a classroom setting, teaching children from Year 1 to Year 6 with no or little knowledge of Mandarin.
My teaching experience first started with teaching children at nursery and primary school age, familiarising them with Chinese vocabulary and simple sentence structures which instil in them knowledge of the language from a young age. My friendly personality, and the fact I like to use games and interactive activities to help them learn Chinese made our lessons fun and enjoyable.
The lessons are tailored to each student's learning needs and targets, they focus specifically on oral practice which has been effective in getting students to grow the confidence to speak in Chinese while giving them games and activities to do maintaining their interest in the subject. Writing is also a big focus for me as I am keen for students to recognize and write basic Chinese characters with little dependency on Pinyin. For students learning at GCSE/A Levels, I adapt lesson plans to be more honed in on exam preparation and fulfilling assessment criterias (for exam boards such as Edexcel, AQA and OCR).
