Hello, my name is Kimberley and I work at a secondary school in Ashford, Kent. In my spare time I enjoy reading, swimming every week and looking after my pets (guinea pigs and a cat).
As Subject Leader of Psychology & Sociology, I have 7 years of experience teaching predominantly AQA A-level Psychology, OCR GCSE Psychology, AQA A-level Sociology, but I have also taught WJEC Criminology and KS3 Edexcel History, RE & Geography. In my spare time, I have been an AQA examiner for 3 years and have tutored intermittently for 7 years.
I have access to all of the latest educational resources to ensure that you excel in the areas of subject knowledge, assessment objectives, planning and writing essays, and knowing how to approach different exam style questions. When tutoring, I typically follow a structure of retrieving information from the last session, spending some time gaging current knowledge levels on the topic at hand, explaining this as an expert, then handing over to practice different styles of questions scaffolded then independently. I will also set work between sessions. I have found that it is very useful as well as enjoyable to make real-world or cross-curricular connections with the course content in Psychology & Sociology (e.g. whatever is going on in the news, how two topics or perspectives may overlap) so I ensure that this is a frequent feature of my teaching.
