I’m an enthusiastic Teacher of Science with experience in helping learners understand biology, chemistry and physics concepts at combined science GCSE and triple biology GCSE level. I have taught biology to A Level standard and have a particular fondness for helping students that struggle with exam technique. I do this by helping them navigate difficult scientific terminology, defining command words embedded within exam questions and breaking down complex processes into manageable chunks.
I achieved my PGDipEd +QTS status in July of 2021, but have been helping students with examination content since the start of 2020. I hold both a bachelors degree in biology and a master in microbiology from a Russell Group university.
The layout of each session will follow the normal structure of a typical school lesson, initially focusing on retrieval and recall to help identify student understanding. This will be followed by the main body of the lesson where we will complete an 'I do, we do, you do' framework, in which I explain a concept followed by the student completing a written task or exam question with my guidance, soon followed by a short independent activity to boost confidence. Lastly, a short plenary will cement acquired knowledge so it can be recalled once again at a later date.
