I am an experienced and enthusiastic English teacher and have excellent success rates with my students. I have been a marker for the Advanced Higher English qualification, which has deepened my knowledge of essential skills and what it takes to achieve a high grade.

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring National 5 (or equivalent) and Higher English since 2009, homing in on aspects of the course that students may find particularly challenging: RUAE, Folio, Scottish Set Text and the Critical Essay. More recently I have gained experience as a volunteer tutor for ESOL students as well as supporting family and friends with their SQA qualifications.

Tutoring Approach

I am well organised, friendly and flexible. I regularly review my resources and tailor them to suit the individual needs of my students. I offer ample opportunity for the practice of skills through homework tasks and I give regular feedback on work, which helps build confidence and lead to exam success.
