After many years running a small business specialising in surgical devices for NHS hospitals, I decided to take the plunge and make a late career change into teaching Maths. I wish that I had done it sooner! I have a wide range of interests in science, arts and music and am a keen mountaineer
I started teaching in 2022. I work 2 days per week at a College, I day per week tutoring at a Secondary School and 1 day per week running Functional Skills/ GCSE Maths to Adult Community Learners. I have previously worked as a medical devices specialist running my own company and am able to understand the importance that Maths has in young people's life-choices.
I currently teach GCSE Maths to various ages of learners - 16-19 y/o at College, Functional Skills Maths to Adult Community Education groups and tutor small groups at Secondary School for their GCSE Maths. I have also trained to teach maths at Primary school level - this gives me a good understanding of the foundational building blocks that are so important to help develop deeper understanding of the subject.
I am passionate about enabling learners to access Maths and like to take a fun and inquisitive approach to the subject. I want learners to really enjoy their learning journey.
