My name is Kylene, I am a British citizen living in Suffolk UK. I am a full time English Language and Literature tutor with six years of tutoring experience, three years online. I gained my degree whilst working in the library at my local college/ university. This is where I realised that I loved to teach English to a variety of students. I find it very rewarding to watch the student achieve their goals and progress. Professional development is very important to me as I wish to be the best tutor I possibly can be, so I often take courses to make sure that I am continually improving and developing my teaching practices. I am an avid reader and thoroughly enjoy young adult fiction. I teach a range of students from complete beginners all the way through to adults, I have lots of experience with SEN and home-schooled students too. I teach; ESL (English as a second language), KS1 through to GCSE and A-level English language and English literature. My methods of teaching vary depending on the age and level of the student. I always strive to make the learning experience fun and engaging as I find this really helps to focus the student. The student’s enjoyment and success is at the heart of everything I do. The best way to learn English is to have fun, try your best and never give up!
A little bit about me: I'm 38 years old and I'm married with two children; Alfie 18 and Isla 13. I live with my family and our pets, Peppa the spingerdor and three cats, Teddy, Delancey and Finn. I love to read young adult fiction, and the classics. My favourite book is Little Women, and I'm a huge Harry Potter fan. I also enjoy walking and travelling with my family. I look forward to meeting you in my online classroom.
I have been working in education since 2014 when I took a position in my local college/ university library as a technical learning support assistant. I interacted with a range of students from the ages of 14 to adults, and many SEN students. My duties included; taking small groups of students for study, helping students to find resources, delivering training to staff and helping with assignments and referencing. From here I began tutoring privately and contracted for a few online tutoring companies, I taught English to children online from countries all over the world from the ages of 3-16. I then built my website and became self employed and have never looked back. I am an online tutor and I specialise in SEN.
I myself studied online to gain my BA (hons) in English language and literature. I found it worked well for me as I was a busy working mum, with a house to run. I could fit the work around my other commitments and not having to travel to tutorials meant that I saved time. I decided to base my tutoring online as it would allow me to teach people from anywhere in the world and also because it gives me the freedom to work where ever I like. I have been completely based online now for 3 years and it works extremely well. I use zoom to host my classes and utilise the tools on the platform to make the classes fun and interactive.
My classes are tailored to meet the individual needs of each student. I make my classes fun and interactive as I believe we learn best when we are enjoying ourselves. I take a student led approach and try to teach in a way that keeps the interest of my students.
