I am a book lover, Shakespeare fan and amateur musician based in Worthing.
I moved here 6 years ago to begin my teaching career and fell in love with the town and the teaching life. I have needed tutoring myself as a teenager and I know how powerful 1-1 support can be as well as how effective it is.
I have been an English teacher for 6 years. I teach in a research informed environment that heavily influences my pedagogy. As well as an up to date knowledge of the curriculum I have worked with students at all levels achieving anything from grade 4 to grade 9. I have a close knowledge of how to foster learning in students especially due to my leadership experience designing curriculum for large year groups.
I believe that relationships are key. By building trust and confidence I help students feel they are capable of achieving their best and get them to a place where they can enjoy work. I use gentle and staggered questioning to support students to find their own answers at every opportunity. I am confident at modelling and demonstrating essay work as well as teaching content to ensure students understand what it is they need to do to succeed.
