I’m a fully qualified Maths teacher and current head of department in a large, Ofsted rated outstanding, secondary school. I am also a GCE Edexcel A-Level examiner.
I am looking to take on one tutoring job in the Kensington/Chelsea/Battersea area. My availability on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 5.30 and 8pm with more availability in the holidays.
I have been teaching GCSE and A-Level classes for 11 years, and have had top results every year supporting students to make significantly above average progress. I have experience of teaching every year of the newer specification (2017 for GCSE and 2019 for A Level) and so familiar with the style of questions and emerging trends. I also wrote my master’s dissertation on this - an analysis of the skills required to be successful at GCSE maths. I have taught in both state and private schools and with the full range of abilities.
I will assess current knowledge and skills and build upon these so that new concepts are taught in a way that raises confidence, leads to deep conceptual understanding and therefore long term retention. I will also focus on the problem solving and reasoning aspects of the GCSE and A Level courses that many students struggle to gain marks on.
