I am a chartered psychologist, with a first degree and a PhD both in psychology and I have been teaching at university level since 1993, I am a senior member of the Higher Education Academy. In addition to teaching psychology, I've got a keen interest in personal development and in the development of study skills, for which I have experience at both designing and delivering courses.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching psychology at university level since 1993, to students from all levels up to PhD. I was awarded a Teaching Excellence fellowship in 2007 for my teaching practice in both psychology and study skills. I have led and delivered courses and workshops to 6th form students as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students, some subject based in psychology and others to students from a range of subjects on generic study skills. I have also taught psychology to a range of non-psychologists, such as computer scientists and non-student adults. I have been tutoring students at AS and A level AQA A and B syllabuses and undergraduates in psychology and nursing since 2010, with many of my students increasing their results by a whole grade or more.

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring is customised to the student: to their level, needs and goals. I consider tutoring to be a partnership between the student and the tutor to help the student reach their goals. Success at A levels needs good exam technique, which I include in my tutoring. Tutoring can be offered in a weekly slot, in short bursts or in a more flexible on demand format.

Undergraduates often prefer to have access to more flexible tutoring, with more intense support at assessment pinchpoints, I offer flexible booking options to allow for this.

For a more cost effective option, as well as one on one tutoring, I'm happy to offer study group sessions for 2 or 3 students working together. Contact me for more details.
