I'm a married teacher, living in Long Eaton, Derbyshire. I teach at a local comprehensive school. I LOVE reading, and try and encourage students to read as well, in order to expand their knowledge and understanding of the world.
I have 15 years experience of teaching GCSE RE/RS and A Level Philosophy and Ethics. I have been an examiner for AQA, and have experience of marking A level papers for AQA as well. I have also taught GCSE and A Level Sociology. I am currently Head of Department, and have taught in faith schools and non-faith schools. I have taught both types of specification for AQA, and have taught Eduqas, and Edexel boards in other schools. At A level, I have taught both OCR and AQA specifications.
I love teaching students to think outside the box, and to try and link the ideas and concepts of Religious Studies and Philosophy to their own lives. I want students to love learning, and focus on building a relationship built on mutual trust and respect to do this. Teenagers need to be treated this way in order to trust enough to try and engage with material that is very unfamiliar, and outside their comfort zone. I have found this to be extremely successful in my classroom, and would love to work with any student that is willing to put their trust in me to guide them to success.
