Home Tuition for Maths and Combined Science in Greenwich

A proud graduate of the University of Birmingham at which I read International Relations, Politics and Ethics to a Master's degree level but also pursued interests in student media, politics and sport. At school I excelled in a variety of subjects including maths, science and the humanities and believe in education providing skills and approaches rather than memorised content.

Tutoring Experience

Between September 2019 and May 2021 I worked as a Learning Support Assistant at St Michael's Catholic School in High Wycombe. In that role I have worked with a wide variety of children from year 7 to 11, primarily GCSE and year 9 pupils. The pupils I work with vary from low attainment to gifted and talented and so I have learnt to be extremely adaptable across ability, subject and more specific learning needs. I have also worked outside the classroom with small groups of half a dozen students with full autonomy over content and methods of learning. These sessions would cover maths and a customised programme on study skills to prepare students for revising for GCSEs.
For the last three years I have provided specialised tutoring sessions to many students in maths, science, geography and politics across a range of abilities.

Tutoring Approach

Skills based approach that can provide a path to greater academic independence within their subject. First establishing what a student current knowledge base is, what skill set they have and how they approach learning. From this we can fully understand strengths and weaknesses before planning the route forward.
