I have been a Maths teacher for the last 10 years at secondary schools in London. I am an outstanding practitioner who has enjoyed successful outcomes. I inspire confidence in Mathematics in every student, regardless of ability or starting level. I am an Imperial College London graduate in Mathematics with Management and hold a PGCE in Teaching Secondary Mathematics from King's College London. I am an engaging and supportive tutor who is able to bring the best out of my students.
I am a qualified English as a Foreign Language Teacher and hold a Cambridge-certified CELTA certificate in Teaching EFL. I have successfully taught General English to students of different nationalities, abilities and ages (including children, teenagers and adults).
I am a qualified Maths teacher with 10 years’ experience teaching all ages and abilities at secondary level (11-18 year olds). I am currently Key Stage 3 Maths Co-ordinator at a London secondary school. I have been teaching students from across the ability spectrum over the past 10 years. I am equally comfortable teaching those who excel at Maths and those who really struggle with it. I believe that every student with the right support and encouragement can succeed in the subject. I am up-to-date with new curriculum developments and expected outcomes at Key Stage 2 and 3. I am familiar with and am able to tutor to the new specifications at GCSE and A-level. I have excellent curriculum knowledge. I am aware of common misconceptions -how to highlight them and explain them so they are understood.
I have two years experience teaching English as a Foreign Language at private language schools in Spain and the UK. I have taught General English to children, teenagers and adults at all levels. I am able to devise bespoke syllabi to cater for your specific needs.
I tutor Maths for primary, Key Stage 3, GCSE and A-level. I offer lessons via Zoom which works very well. I build positive relationships with young people and boost their confidence in the subject. I break down concepts and explain them so that students understand them and can apply them independently.
Lessons are interactive and there is an open dialogue between myself and my tutee. I plan enjoyable and productive lessons with content structured appropriately. I set work and always give constructive feedback for improvement.
I have a kind and caring nature which creates a safe space for my tutee to ask questions. I am happy to explain a different way or adopt a alternative approach as I know that every student has their own unique way of thinking.
I am patient and communicate well with tutees and their parents. I support students with exam practice by giving them exam techniques and doing past papers. I tailor each lesson to a child’s individual needs and build on prior learning. I am fully DBS-checked.
I find out the aims of my tutee studying General English/ EFL and plan lessons to meet those aims. I have an interactive and adaptable approach to tutoring English as a Foreign Language. I plan lessons with a specific focus on grammar, vocabulary or a particular topic. For example, I may give input, practice exercises then a writing or speaking activity. I believe that language has to go from passive to active so that it can be used to communicate confidently with native speakers. I use a variety of the four skills -listening, reading, writing and speaking. I incorporate games and conversation practice into lessons to engage learners and make lessons enjoyable.
