I am an educational consultant, teacher and 1:1 tutor with over 30 years’ experience. As a former head of department and current, secondary school English teacher, I find it hugely rewarding watching the huge transition in pupils as they increase in confidence as they hone the skills required to increase their marks.
My excellent year on year exam results speak for themselves. Pupils are supported and encouraged to fulfill their true potential, whatever level they are currently working at, and aim for the very highest grades.
However, as an experienced teacher and mother, I realise that every pupil has a different learning style and benefits considerably from a personalised, tailored approach in every lesson. I create a programme for each individual to suit his/her learning style/level of ability. Many pupils do not have this opportunity at school and are surprised how quickly they can improve, especially when combined with improved study skills and the all important understanding of exam technique which will focus their learning. This ensures that all pupils fullfil their potential as well as fostering an enjoyment of their subject. My pupils usually comment on how much they enjoy their tuition in addition to seeing a substantial improvement in their grades.
I have over 30 years' teaching experience in both the independent and state sector, and 25 years' experience of private tuition, both with small groups and now primarily on a one to one basis.
I have many years' experience tutoring for the Bucks 11 plus, in small groups of 4 pupils, or on a one-to-one basis to suit the needs of different individuals.
In addition, I have considerable experience in tutoring for common entrance at 11 and 13 and for individual school independent entrance tests. Every year I have a very high success rate for entry to Merchant Taylors, Wycombe Abbey, Headington, Tiffin, Henrietta Barnett, St Helen's, Habs, Wellington, Winchester, St Paul’s and many other independent schools. Every pupil I have taught who has sat a Wycombe Abbey or St Paul’s entrance test at 11 has been successful. Many of my pupils have also been granted scholarships.
I have a very flexible approach to tutoring to suit the needs of the individual. I have a wealth of experience with both less able pupils and those who are recognised as gifted and talented.
