I am a teacher of 30 years experience who is passionate about my subject. I read Marine Sciences at University and then continued with my education to gain my PGCE in Secondary Teaching. My teaching career has been varied and I have loved every minute. Aside from teaching, I also have a passion for the environment, gardening, travel and horses. I volunteer at our local community farm and I am also a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs.
I qualified with my PGCE in Secondary Science in 1993 following my degree in Marine Sciences. My teaching experience is in both the state and independent sectors. I am passionate about Biology and love to share my knowledge with students who have a love for learning and a determination to be the very best they can be. My experience includes KS3 to A level. I have recently retired from my Head of Science post and I am looking forward to working more closely with students on a 1:1 level. This will enable me to work closely with students towards their individual goals. I am able to explain concepts in many different ways and I will keep changing my approach until a concept is fully understood. I am patient and positive ensuring every student feels able to develop and grow at their own pace, secure in the knowledge that this is part of their learning journey, building their confidence so the young person will begin to thrive.
I am able to deliver both face to face and online lessons. My main aim is to allow students to flourish and grow in confidence. I am enthusiastic and positive, but also expect the students to work hard to achieve their full potential. My lessons will involve both biological theory and application. I have access to and will use appropriate examination resources and give feedback to pupils on a regular basis. Using my examiner experience I will support and develop their understanding working through exam questions together so that, when they are faced with their external exams, they approach every question with confidence and the skills to succeed.
