I am an outstanding and fully qualified Psychology teacher. I have 10 years teaching experience teaching both AQA Psychology and Sociology. I have previously taught Sociology and been Head of Department.
My specialism and degree is in Psychology, so I am highly knowledgeable of the AQA specification and exam requirements and tailor my sessions to the exam.

I am currently an examiner for the AQA Psychology Paper 2 exam, which includes topics such as Approaches, Biopsychology and Research Methods. I received "excellent" on my marking for these sections in the 2019 exams. In addition to Paper 2, I teach all topics within Paper 1 (memory, attachment, social psychology and psychopathology); and most topics within Paper 3 (issues and debates, schizophrenia, aggression, eating behaviour, and relationships). I am kept up to date with marking feedback and tips of what pupils need for exam success. Also, I have been a Sociology AQA examiner for Paper 3 (Crime and Deviance with Theory & Methods); but also teach Paper 1 (Education with Theory and Methods in Context) and have previously taught Families from Paper 2.

Since Covid and family commitments, I offer home tutoring at the moment but can discuss further based on requirements.

Tutoring Approach

I have worked with a number of pupils with a variety of needs and abilities therefore I endeavour to tailor my sessions to the individual's abilities. My sessions focus on exam practise and going through past papers, so if this something you need help with, then get in touch. I also run revision of topics, but again tailored around exam questions as these are the best ways to consolidate your psychological knowledge. I provide resources and handouts to aid in your learning.
Homework tasks will also be set to maximize your chances of reaching or exceeding your target grades. These will be marked and detailed verbal and/or written feedback will be provided.

Please note that I do expect tutees to complete work set for them and may contact parents with concerns re quality of work and/or attitude if I think it appropriate.
