Tutoring Experience

I am Orton Gillingham qualified and have 7 years experience teaching children aged 8 to 12 years old. I have taught in schools and now offer one to one sessions on-line for children around the world.

Tutoring Approach

I specialise in reading, writing and spelling for children with dyslexia.

I teach online using Zoom and I am easy to contact by WhatsApp or email. Zoom is fully interactive and allows me to offer a multi-sensory approach. We read from an online library and use the whiteboard to draw or type. We can interact just as well as if we were face to face.

The Orton Gillingham approach is highly structured, phonetic and rule based, while still allowing enough flexibility to tailor each lesson to work with students at their own level and pace. I build on a students existing knowledge, ensuring they remain confident and happy learners.

The lessons help students acquire the skills to make them proficient phonetic, rule-base spellers. It also develops good phonological skills for sounding out unfamiliar words using their knowledge of letter sounds conversion rules. The lessons also help to develop working memory and I reinforce skills using interactive and fun games.
