I am a 3rd year medical student at Hull York Medical School. I am passionate about science, particularly biology, and I would love to help some kids to feel the same. In my spare time I like to go to the gym and look after all my plants!
I have worked with children for 4 years as a volunteer for ASD family help charity. This gave me lots of practice in using different methods to engage kids in learning. I was also a nanny last summer and so have lots of experience working with kids. As a medical student I have in-depth knowledge of Biology and Chemistry, and so I feel I understand the concepts that students are taught. I can then apply this understanding to help each individual learn the content in the best way for them.
I will work with your child to help them understand content by faciliating discussions with why, how, and when questions. It is important you understand why you do something, or the reason for something occuring, as well as how it happens or how to apply a technique to a situation. I also teach when; When do I apply this technique, or when should I explain this concept. This method allows a child to engage in their studies by asking these questions, and teaches them skills for the future, but also exam technique. In sessions I will be led by the child and what they feel they are struggling with or want help with, as well as introducing new content or methods to prepare them for future teaching.
