Hi, I'm Ilyssa and I'm a second year dental student at Newcastle University. As someone who's recently gone through the education system, I think I'm well placed as a tutor as I understand that it can be difficult!
For my A Levels, I studied Biology, Chemistry, Maths and an EPQ achieving all A*-As. I got 9s in Maths and Chemistry in my GCSEs.
I can also help with university admissions. I can offer interview help for Medicine/Dentistry/Dental Hygiene and Therapy, check structured UCAS questions and give UCAT advice (achieving a UCAT of 2870 B2, average 717.5).
I've delivered over 150 hours of GCSE tutoring, building experience in my gap year and continuing throughout my first year of university. Prior to this, I mentored lower sixth students in Biology, Chemistry and Maths A Levels.
At university, I am a peer mentor for younger dental students, acting as an informal first point of contact for help.

Every student has different aims and ways of working. As such, I will tailor lesson plans to you. I just need to get to know you and your exam specification. I've found that tutoring works best when complementing and reviewing topics that a student learns in school.
Memorisation alone is not a sustainable strategy. I believe that an understanding of concepts and good exam technique is key to success.
Online lessons are delivered through MS Teams and BitPaper (a free interactive whiteboard). For in-person lessons, please note that I am only available to travel to places accessible by Metro and only on the weekends (travel will also be charged for).
