I have 10 years experience as a both a teacher of Science and a tutor. I have a passion for all sciences as although it is one of the most difficult subjects to grasp, combining skills from both maths and English, it is fundamental in driving our community forward. Science provides the answers to cure diseases, expand further into space and create new technologies for our enjoyment and survival. I have studied Zoology at degree and therefore am specialised in the field of Biology. I also have a keen interest in sport in which I am a competitive member of a swimming team. I also enjoy history and exploring the many fantastic hidden places that the world has to offer.

Tutoring Experience

I have been KS4 leader and Head of A Level Biology at an 'outstandin'g secondary school in Essex. Currently I am a Lead Practitioner of Science in a school in North Solihull. I have been teaching all Science's up to GCSE including triple science for 10 years, A Level Biology for 6 years and A Level Chemistry for 1 year. I have been involved in the creations of new schemes of work and am well informed on the teaching and the new assessments for both KS5 and KS4 including the emphasis on higher maths and practical exam skills. I have experience as an exam marker which I use to help student answer to the style of exams.

Tutoring Approach

I like to use a range of techniques in order to help students engage, understand and build confidence in their work. Some sessions may consist of us going through parts of the content they are struggling to understand and creating revision notes or resources that will help them in the future. Other times I will give students past exam questions that they may work through independently or together before using examiner techniques to mark, analyse, critique and improve their answers.
