I am a South London-based English tutor, with an MSt in Creative Writing, and a First Class bachelors degree in English literature. Working one-on-one I enjoy seeing my students not only build their subject ability, but grow more confident through our sessions.
I have been teaching for many years, and have taught a wide range of ages both online and in-person. With students aged between 7 - 18, I am experienced in primary, secondary, and exam prep teaching - from spellings to past papers I'm happy to do it all!
When first meeting a student I often give them a short assessment to see which subject areas need improving. My lesson plans are written individually, with my student's specific needs in mind.
For students who are working to an exam syllabus, tutoring sessions are often deeply rooted in the exam specifications, working to improve the key skills needed to get top marks, and help my students understand what makes a good essay. All of my students have a clear say in what they would like to learn and how, as they know what is most useful for them.
I aim to keep my lessons as friendly and welcoming as possible, as I feel that an environment where students aren't afraid to make mistakes is one where they will grow more confident and really see improvement.
