Louise was happy to work with my daughter who has special learning needs. She arrived on time for the first lesson. She worked well with my daughter, helping her to understand new concepts and language. My daughter was content with her new tutor, who could help her to understand poetry in greater depth. Unfortunately we had to stop the sessions after the second session. Before 'accepting' our tutor I did request on two occasions the total cost of any additional travel fees and she assured me that it would not be much, not to worry and that we would work it out. I then asked once again after receiving her details. Thinking that 'not much' would not be more than £2 - £3, I was shocked to learn, after my daughter's second lesson, that the additional cost would be £7.50. This would be on top of the £40 tuition fee. I tried to assist the tutor in finding an alternative cheaper route but sadly her health would not permit that. I am disappointed that we have lost a good tutor and also very disappointed that the tutor allowed me to think that the sessions could be affordable. Perhaps, unintentional, but I believe I was misled.

I would never mislead a parent or student. I would certainly never mislead the mother of a child with special needs.

The distance to Rebecca's house was further than anticipated, so I should have got a more exact location and the mother should have been clearer prior to paying the First Tutors fee. The time and distance to her house made the lesson unworkable. It would be helpful if we could ask potential clients for their postcode in order to establish more realistic travelling distances. There is no 'alternative cheaper route'.

I am sorry that Rebecca believes that she was misled. I have never before been accused of dishonesty or anything remotely similar. I am pleased that her daughter enjoyed the lessons and hope she finds someone more local. If a student lives some distance from my house, they now need to travel to me.
