I made a genuine mistake with my timings and realised I was probably, with evening traffic, not able to get to the student in time after finishing my previous job in Fulbourn. It was my mistake; I profusely apologised, and immediately refunded the ‘FirstTutors’ fee to the parent.

However, it simply isn’t true to say that I was unprofessional in my lack of preparation for the session: 24 hours is ample time to prepare for a one hour lesson, but my legitimate enquiries about her son’s set texts and needs were met with extreme rudeness from this parent. I had been nothing but polite and was genuinely interested in how I could best help the student, and was in the process of preparing materials. The hostility of the replies raised a red flag, and prompted me to re-examine the arrangement I’d made. I do not need to be working with people who treat me this way from the outset.

I realise the short notice was very inconvenient and I apologised many times for this, but was only sent more unpleasant emails, with no acceptance of my apologies. It seems this one ‘wasn’t meant to be’.
