I am passionate about social studies and social justice. I graduated from the prestigious Anthropology department of Durham University in 2019, and I have spent the last year conducting social research with vulnerable communities in Cambodia. In September 2020 I will begin a Masters course at UCL in Social Policy and Social Research (Msc). All of this experience builds and strengthens my A* knowledge of A-Level Sociology, a subject that I continue to draw passion from in my academic and everyday life, to be the most appropriate tutor for anyone studying this at A-Level.
Throughout my time at Durham University, I sporadically lent a hand by tutoring A-Level Sociology students. Therefore, since only leaving school 4 years ago, the content is very much fresh in the mind and has been tested consistently since.
My teaching approach relies on a robust knowledge base, encompassing all theories, critiques and social applications. By ensuring all arguments can be met with a valid critique, especially in the subject of sociology, all essays can be written in a sophisticated manner that taps in to the top marks. In addition, I ensure that students can see the 'real-life' application within society, as this is where the passion for this subject is ignited, whilst serving as yet another way to instil knowledge in the brain. Once the content is taught, I will consistently test students by setting mock essays, to ensure they are prepared for exams. These essays will range from essay plans, to full written essays in exam time. I will also give writing and essay structure lessons, to ensure they receive appropriate training in a range of skills.
