I am a passionate educator with a deep love for music and history. I strive to make every lesson enjoyable. I moved to London from Ireland when I was 18 to study music at Goldsmiths. From there I began to explore London and its music scene as well venturing out on travels across Europe and further. I went on to complete a PGCE with UCL and after seven years of teaching I took a sabbatical to travel the world. I play the saxophone, flute, piano, guitar, DJ and produce music. I also enjoy martial arts and have spent time training kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
I have taught secondary music for 7 years and have also taught secondary school History. I have tutored GCSE music and taught BTEC and RSL music courses.
I take a student-centered approach, aiming to tailor each lesson towards the learner's needs as well as the curriculum's requirements. I will also set personalised assignments where necessary.
For music I combine technical skills with knowledge and expression. For history I focus on storytelling to engage the student. For all lessons I will use probing questions to check the student's understanding or check for misconceptions. I aim to facilitate an environment where students feel engaged and supported with their learning.
