Hello, I'm Maddie. I study History at Oxford University. I have experience helping students doing GCSEs, A Levels (in History, English Literature and Biology), and preparing for the Oxford history admissions test, especially because I have two younger sisters and love working with younger students. Last summer, I taught English to students in Hong Kong for 6 weeks. I also love running, drama and music, as I can play the piano and did singing grades in school.

Tutoring Experience

I received TEFL training to work teaching English in Hong Kong to younger students, planning and leading lessons for 6 weeks. At school, I helped students through GCSE subjects by being a 'study buddy', and have supported students at A Level. Because I did the history admissions test for Oxford, I have given students advice and technique support for that, and led mock interviews with students applying for history at Oxford.

Tutoring Approach

For students focusing on exams, I can mainly focus on exam techniques and knowing how to answer exam-style questions, alongside covering any difficult content and encouraging the student to attempt solving problems on their own. I also hope to encourage students to enjoy their subject and gain confidence in their abilities.
