Priyanthi Malka

I have a BSc in Civil Engineering with 11 years experience in the Engineering industry. At present I am a full time tutor with more than 15 years of tutoring experience. Working on a major irrigation programme for 11 years, I saw at first hand the immense difference that the application of mathematics can make and this helps me to motivate my students. As a mother to a teenager, I have become more understanding of how young people think.

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring for more than 15 years. I have tutored more than 80 students in Maths and Science. Most remained with me until the completion of their schooling, which I think is testament to the rapport I developed with them and the quality of my teaching. In the course of my tuition career, I have successfully worked with children from a variety of backgrounds, from comprehensive, grammar and private schools. I teach Science ( Chemistry, Physics) up to GCSE and Maths up to A-level for Edexcel, AQA and OCR exam boards.

Tutoring Approach

I mainly tutor on an individual basis. I have developed a teaching approach, which I tailor to the talents of the individual student. I have high expectations of all of them and it has been my great satisfaction to see them achieve their potential. I target the tutee’s weak areas and monitor with customised exercises and homework.
I have my tutees practice with past papers but make sure they fully understand the lessons beforehand. I tutor from my home, providing a calm and welcoming learning environment.
